CHALLENGE Communities across Alberta have faced millions of dollars in funding decreses from the provincial government since 2019. Local governments came together to ask the province to reinstate this funding and bring public awareness to the slowed fiscal support.
SOLUTION Lead by the Edmonton Mayor’s Office, the Fair Compensation Project website created a place to inform and mobilize citizens. The site includes information on the advocacy asks of local governments, updates on progress, and an email tool for citizens. In the 2025 provincial budget, the Alberta government agreed to increase funding to municipalities.
