Party Like it’s 1912

Dewey’s Bar + Lounge
Retail + Print  | 2019

CHALLENGE There has been a bar in the Old Power Plant on the U of A campus since the early 80’s. The building displays its industrial heritage with brick everywhere and remnants of fixtures coming out of the walls. Though the building was confident in its authentic historical identity, the bar it housed was less deffined. Was it a coffee shop, a pub, a sports bar, or a club? Dewey’s confusing mix of legacy identities needed sorting out for the new campus crowd that was accustomed to a range of choices a few blocks away on Whyte Ave.

SOLUTION  Dewey’s menu was completely rebuilt and simplified with wallet-friendly á la carte options for hungry students. The new identity pulled from the early 1900’s architectural style of the building to create a gastro-pub persona with  hits of self-deprecating humor.
